Doctor Who Confidential/Cake Boss

DOCTOR WHO CONFIDENTIAL!

So a couple months ago I saw the cast of Doctor Who appearing here in NYC, and afterwards I was interviewed with my friend Chris Irving about the new season. Well, it was all filmed for Doctor Who Confidential (behind-the-scenes documentary that accompanies each episode) and I made the cut! Only my really nerdy friends will fully appreciate just how truly AMAZING this is.

Our part is 14 minutes into the episode that accompanies the amazing season 5 finale "The Big Bang." We talk about the American fan base and dispute over bow ties. Now I've been on BBC twice in 6 weeks! Wow!

We're 7 minutes in...

CAKE BOSS!

While I'm on the topic of TV, I'd like to invite you to check out the latest episode of TLC's "Cake Boss!" (Episode 7: "Chopped Head and a Crazy Cravings Cake") It features the Marie Antoinette party that I blogged about a couple months ago. I'm just one of the people hidden in the background of the party scenes, but my dear friend and collaborator Adam Aleksander (who was the event planner) is highly featured in the episode.

FIGMENT Follow-Up

2nd Skin's Human Printmaking booth at FIGMENT this past weekend was a smashing success!

Matt and I created block prints of a variety of birds inspired by different cultures which we then printed on the arms, cheeks, and legs of all the folks who passed us by...successfully peppering Roosevelt Island with blue birds! I looked like I had a whole sleeve of tattoos, which made me feel pretty bad-ass.

"Page by Paige" update

ONE MORE MONTH...and then I'll be finished* with my graphic novel!

(*fingers crossed)

Right now I'm wrapping up the digital shading part of the process, and finally I'll tackle the lettering. Here are a few random unfinished pages to show you how things are coming along in Paige's little world. (click to enlarge)

This weekend: FIGMENT

ATTENTION New York kids...
2nd Skin will be part of FIGMENT this Saturday!

FIGMENT is an explosion of creative energy. It’s a free, annual celebration of participatory art and culture where everything is possible. For one weekend each summer, it transforms Governors Island into a large-scale collaborative artwork… and then it’s gone. It's going on all weekend, but Matt and I will only be there on Saturday, June 12th 10am – 6pm. We'll be in Nolan Park (Co-01) right in front of the Commanding Officer's House.

We'll be doing HUMAN PRINTMAKING....
You will be invited to become human canvases, offering a cheek or an arm to be adorned with one or more of a variety of block prints applied with body paint. Our unique designs draw inspiration from traditional woodcuts, edgy contemporary street art, and folk art.
One word: BIRDS!

You can learn more about FIGMENT and its the artists, installations, and performances here. And here is the Facebook event.
