New Years @ Macao

Every year I always hate figuring out what to do on New Years...so this year I'm solving this problem by WORKING that night:

I'll be a body painter AND courtesan at my good friend Adam Aleksander's New Years event at Macao Trading Co. (An awesome bar in Tribeca with a Chinese/Portuguese 30's speakeasy atmosphere)

There's no cover or anything, so just show up to see some burlesque and let us pour some champagne into your mouth!

Christmas eve post

What could be more festive than a two-headed maniacal snowman? I thought I'd share it on here because it's art, well, sort of. My dad and I made this yesterday in front of their house in Virginia...(click on it to see bigger size)

Happy holidays everybody!

2nd Skin photo shoot

Last week I was a GUEST SPEAKER in my friend Liz Lessner's art class at the Renaissance high school in Queens. It was so nice to be back in the classroom! I shared my handmade sketchbooks and various artistic endeavors and talked about my creative process...but next month I'll return to do one of my lessons with them. I'd like to thank all the wonderful students, they're a great group of girls!

In other news, last week I put together a photo shoot with my body painting comrade Matt Mikas and my good friend & talented photographer A. Jesse Jiryu Davis. We're putting together a website for our body painting side business 2ND SKIN, but I thought I'd share some of the photos with you. Our models (who are all rad beautiful people who I'm lucky to call my friends) were so amazing! Thank you so much for coming out on such a cold night and being such a good sport. Please click on the image to see it closer up.

Happy holidays, everyone!

Battlestar Galactica Panel Wrap-Up

So, I'm happy to report that our Battlestar Galactica Panel at Galapagos on Tuesday went really well! (Despite the moment when Patrick stepped off the stage into the WATER thinking it was solid floor. Oops! But we got him dried off by the time the event started...) Thank you, everyone who came out!

For more details about the event itself you can check out what some other folks wrote about it: Shane's site The Rabbit Hole, and Sean's blog Nerd NYC.

Basically I was the nerdy hostess of the evening, in my homemade Eye of Jupiter shirt. We played some videos to refresh everyone's memories, then I acted as moderator for the discussion. Our panel (John Brooks, Ajay Chaudhary,Patrick Di Justo, and Shane Froebel) covered a RANGE of topics and also did Q&A with the audience, calling on them by their ship name (The audience tables were labeled as ships in the fleet) Throughout the evening I led the audience in the oh-so-challenging Sacred Scrolls triva, for which we gave out prizes (Patrick's book, DVDs) for both winners AND most amusing team names (The Spawn of Hera, The Fracks of Life).

Galapagos was an amazing space for the event, very "Opera house/Temple of Five" feeling.

We almost got one of the cast members (gasp!) to join us for this event but something came up and he couldn't make it, but maybe next time!

Battlestar Galactica Forum

You might remember that back in August when I did my week long art show & events at HiChristina in Brooklyn I held a BATTLESTAR GALLACTICA themed night with my good friend John Brooks.

Well, it went over so well that we're following it up with a grand panel event at Galapagos next week! We'll have an amazing panel discussion with Shane Froebel, Patrick Di Justo, and Ajay Chaudhary...then trivia, prizes, and BSG fans galore! If you're a fan of the show (Frak, even if you're not!) please come check it out:

I just MOVED TO A NEW APARTMENT in Brooklyn! (Park Slope to be more precise) No more Manhattan for me. It's very exciting and makes me want to use lots of exclamation points!
